Do we need a car?
A car is strongly recommended for airport transfers, shopping and exploring the coast, towns and mountains.
Where should we visit first?
Begin locally in Gavalochori. Kalyves and Almyrida make easy coastal outings; Chania offers history and atmosphere.
Can we visit a gorge without walking Samaria?
Yes. Imbros is shorter, though still a proper hike requiring footwear and transport planning. A mountain drive is another option.
Are the driving times exact?
No. They are estimates from Villa Koumos. Traffic, roadworks, parking and the season affect journeys.
